This rug has been made manually by Aimara women from the Altiplano of Peru and Bolivia according to processes that have been passed down from generation to generation.

The wool is carded, spun, washed and dyed in the community. The dyes used, which come from the Andes mountains, are completely natural and respectful of the environment. The fixation of colors is a slow and ecological process carried out with mineral salts from the salt mines of Maras, in the Sacred Valley.

Each rug is unique and tells a story. The colors and patterns depend on the season and have complex indigenous meanings that take weeks to weave. They are woven on portable wooden looms made by them. It is common to see them weaving while taking care of the cattle.

These products are created in remote villages, with enough time and patience, which are unusual in our society.

Some decorators include them within the current trends of "slow life" and "wabisabi" decoration since they may contain imperfections typical of manual work that give them greater authenticity and character.

We travel to the Altiplano to work directly with local artisans, paying a fair price that allows the development of local communities while maintaining their traditions and culture.

They are ideal for bringing color and warmth to the living room or bedroom. They are also used as blankets, tapestries or furniture decoration combined with our cushions.
